Volare Bread recently announced a new partnership with Lucy Donaldson – ex-theatre nurse, avid baker, and mum-of-three – with the release of a Gluten Free range of bread for their Wholesale customers.
Today, they have announced that the breads will soon be available in stores too.
Rather than getting hung-up on the Gluten Free element, the goal of Lucy’s has always been about creating amazing bread that just so happens to be Gluten Free. It may seem like only a slight shift in perspective, but for those who are coeliacs or gluten-intolerant especially, the focus on detail will mean a lot.
“As any person who goes Gluten Free will tell you, one of the biggest compromises you’ll make is not being able to find a bread that tastes good or that even comes close to regular bread,” says Lucy, co-founder of Lucy’s Gluten Free. “When I decided to cut gluten for health reasons, I started experimenting with baking at home. Eventually I got to a point where I thought my bread tasted better than anything I could find at the store, which is when I approached Volare.”
“It was something that we had been contemplating for a while and customers had been asking us for it, but we already had enough on our plates, so it wasn’t until Lucy walked through the door that we could really start to visualize it.” says Ed Hemming, co-founder of Volare Bread. “Fast-forward two years and now we’ve got a purpose-built bakery, we’ve perfected the bread and we are finally ready to launch to our customers.”
The benefits of this new partnership include:
- Expanding the Volare product range to include new customers with dietary requirements – including those with coeliacs disease.
- A larger product range for our current customer base – these loaves are intended to be enjoyed by everyone, not just those with dietary requirements.
- All of the loaves are Vegan – which is not the case for many Gluten Free ranges.
Lucy’s Gluten Free will be available from April 29th, with three distinct loaves. The bread will be available in all Volare stores, at select Volare retailers and online at www.breadbox.co.nz for delivery in the Waikato, Auckland, and Tauranga regions.
